Digital Health: Wasted Potentials

Uwe Horstmann and former health minister Jens Spahn discuss digital health

Our waiting rooms could be emptier, we could live longer, and most notably: be healthier. If we only made use of healthcare digitalization, instead of blocking it. In order to point to the vast potential of the digital health industry, Uwe Horstmann, partner at Project A, started a series of talks with politicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs. The first talk with Jens Spahn is among others dealing with the question of why more people in Germany die due to poorly adjusted medication plans than in traffic accidents.

Jens Spahn is the parliamentary state secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance, and a designated expert in the area of health policy. He wrote the book “App vom Arzt”, in which he explores how data protection, in its current form, is an innovation killer and only serves the healthy population.

Project A has spent quite some time looking into the sector of digital health and recently made the first investments with the main focus outside of Germany: KRY, Junomedical and Klara.

We hope that we can call attention to the potential of digital health in Germany with our series of talks so that our hospital’s waiting rooms become emptier and our lives longer and healthier.
